The Year 2007 Winter finally arrived in February with lots of wind, very low temperatures, snow and then ice. A good time to try to make those important breeding decisions! Here’s the way things are looking right now (subject to
change, of course) – I think Natuur deserves the year off, and yes, I know, that’s probably not a smart thing to do, but then I don’t want more than four foals, either. She’s also not due until the middle of June 2007, so we’ll be able to get an earlier start in 2008. |

The Year 2006 Beckett is a knock-out black Rhodium son with four white socks and a blaze who earned his 1st Premium at the Iron Spring keuring in September 2006. Kudos to Volimbria for producing such an excellent colt with her first try at motherhood! Beckett will leave Stall Europa in March/April for his new home with Nancy Barnes in New Jersey. When Bardot was born I couldn’t help remembering something Willy Arts had told me some time ago… “With the really good foals you will know right at birth that they’re special!” That was exactly the way I felt when I first saw her, and so far she hasn’t disappointed me. It’s also the reason that I have decided to keep this filly. At the Iron Spring keuring Bardot managed to come in second overall and that placed her at 5th place in the Top Ten in the country! What a girl! And I had to hand it to Natuur for giving me the 5th foal in a row that placed in the Top Ten. As Faith Fessenden put it in her Road Report, some mares should be canonized, and I agree that Natuur, or Nattie Sue as she’s affectionately known around here, deserves that honor. Since I can only take two mare and foal combinations
with me to a keuring, Bella Rica got to stay home and missed out on all the
fun. Bella is turning into a quite tall, very dark, and beautiful girl,
something that wasn’t missed by my veterinarian Dr. Vito Del Vento who “had
dibs on her” ever since she was born. Bella moved to his facility right
around Christmas time, and I get to visit her regularly since she’s only
about 5 minutes away from Stall Europa. In September of 2006, Zio Rico S. E. and his owner, Susan Jacobs, did us proud at Dressage at Devon, coming in 5th in a very large class of 2-year old colts and geldings. Zio is getting more beautiful every year, just look at the pictures Terri Miller took of him.
In addition to all the good things that happened during
2006, a letter from the USDF towards the end of the year brought even more
excitement. Waterloo S. E., a colt that was bred by Stall Europa
finished the year as USDF Horse of the Year for 3-year old colts and
geldings!! We are well aware of the fact that this would not have happened
without Willy Arts of DG Bar Ranch, so here’s another big Thank You, Willy!
Waterloo is a 007 son and out of Showbiz by Jazz . He placed No. 3 in the
Top Ten as a foal and I sent him to California in 2005 to grow up at DG Bar
Ranch. |

| September 2005: We attend a beautiful keuring at Iron Spring Farm. There are over 70 horses there and the foal class is huge and gets broken up into four sub-classes. Aloha S. E. goes first and comes in second to the overall winner at Iron Spring. Ad Lib S. E. goes in the fourth class and wins it. In the final where the class winners and reserve winner compete against each other, Aloha S. E. gets third place and Ad Lib S. E. fifth. |

| July 2005: Showbiz S. E. returns to Stall Europa. This mare by Broere Jazz will be bred in 2006 and we expect another spectacular foal from her. Possible stallions are Florencio and Contendro. |

| Spring of 2005: We are blessed with two foals - a filly by Sir Sinclair and out of Kadence, and a colt by Rousseau and out of Natuur. Both are special in their own ways and we can't wait for the keuring to see what the judging commission has to say. This is the "A" year and we have decided to name the filly Aloha S. E. and the colt Ad Lib S. E. In the meantime we're busy breeding four mares - Kadence (Wanroij x Volckmar) to Thatcher (see www.dgbarranch.com) |

| October 2004: Stall Europa acquires a Hanoverian weanling filly at the MAHB Sales Fest at the Hedgeland Equestrian Complex. Her bloodlines read like a Who's Who of top Hanoverian horses. Her name is Doucette and she is by Dauphin, with Donnerhall/Feiner Stern on top and Weltmeyer/Don Camillo on the bottom. Her dam, Elite Mare Winterset has already produced a number of Elite Mare candidates. Doucette was bred by well-known Marefield Meadows in Warrenton, Virginia. Doucette is bay with a star and a front white sock. She has a beautiful head, good top line and long, correct legs, and we believe that she will produce some extraordinary foals in the years to come. |

| Kadence Ster Keur obtains her Preferent status! With Terro S. E. and Uno S. E. both achieving their Ster rating at the 2004 keuring in Waterford, Kadence has now satisfied the requirements for the Preferent predicate by having three offspring get the Ster rating. Kadence is in foal to Sir Sinclair for 2005 and we hope for yet another very special foal out of this incredible mare. Our thanks to DG Bar Ranch for breeding and selling us this super mare. |

| 2004 Keuring Results: Stall Europa had a fantastic keuring! Zorba S. E. won the foal premium class and was also young horse champion, while Zio Rico S. E. got his first premium rating. In the DG Bar Cup Starbuck, owned by Cindy Buckland, won the 5/6 year old class with a score of 73. The pair was also awarded the saddle pad for "most correctly ridden for the age" category. In the 3/4 year old division which was won by Touche', a lovely mare owned by Margot McAllister, Uno S. E. was reserve champion with a 75, and Terro S. E. came in third with a 74.5 Terro S. E. and Uno S. E. also both received their Ster rating with very high movement scores (both geldings received a 9 for their walk!!), which will give their dam Kadence her Preferent predicate. |

| September 2004: Sep. 15th and 16th - 2004 NA/WPN Keuring at Hedgeland Equestrian Complex in Waterford, VA (see www.hedgelandequestriancomplex.com for directions). This keuring is being hosted by Loucky Hagens-Groosman and Siegi Belz-Fry, and we would like to invite anybody interested in attending this event. The DG Bar Cup competition will take place on Sep. 15th starting at 4:00 p.m. This is a competition for young horses between the ages of 3 and 6 and is modeled after the famous PAVO Cup in Holland. The horses are going to be judged on rideability, balance, rhythm and suppleness among other things, and each keuring location will award a Champion and Reserve Champion 3/4 year old as well as 5/6 year old. DG Bar Cup coolers will be awarded to all site champions along with neck sashes. A saddle pad will be awarded for the most correctly ridden horse (i. e. the horse that shows the most correct training appropriate to its age). The actual keuring will start at 8:00 a.m. on the 16th of Sep. and will begin with the mares and foals class. Come join us for some fun and education. |
